Roots and Rocks – Humphreys Peak

Roots and rocks, say that several times in a row, makes a pretty good beat box rhythm! That being said, I was so anxious about this trail, the most intimidating one on the list and a new one for me. Now I can say I’m no longer a Humphrey Peak virgin!! I almost quit at the saddle but after a brief snack break, I convinced myself that I was going to get this Peak! The weather couldn’t have been any more perfect! Mid 50°s to start and mid 80°s at finish, just a little over 6 hours total. We started at 6:30 am, beat a lot of the crowd, to give us a head start , quite a nice crowd at the sign when we peaked!! As crazy as it may sound, I would definitely do this one again!
