Great hike. South Fork Trail is a little longer than other routes, but it is less steep than some of the other options. Beautiful camping areas at Dry Lake. We did the hike over three days. Day 1 hike to Dry Lake and set up camp. Day 2 summited San Gorgonio WITH A DAY PACK. This made the hike less strenuous. And, hiked back to our camp at Dry Lake. Day 3 hiked back to the car. Doing the hike over 3 days/ 2 nights provided extra time to really enjoy the beauty of this area.
