This trail started at the parking lot by Laurel Valley. After crossing NC 178, we entered the forest with a steady incline up. Very humid and sunny day. Beautiful and challenging hike. Had to take couple breaks for the pup. Once close to the top you could hear the wind. Very windy but could see for a couple miles. We were able to spot a couple lakes in South Carolina. The trek down was nice and easy. Overall hard but rewarding hike. Would do again as a long backpacking trip on the Foothill Trail
