We started off early, hitting the trailhead at about 0725am.  It was a little chilly at first, and when in the shadow of the enormous pine trees. The views were awesome, though we could see part of the marine layer hovering over the coast and the parcels in San Bernardino.  We didn’t see many other hikers, just a few at first, most came later in the afternoon.

We continued from Mt. Pinos to Sawmill and on to Grouse Mountain. The trail was a little difficult to follow in some areas after Sawmill, most particularly when getting to the fork where you are heading to Grouse. We hiked past Grouse and doubled back to find the marker.  We enjoyed lunch and turned back to retrace our steps and back to the parking lot.

The small patches of wildflowers were very nice to see, and the unusual shapes of the different pine trees were an interesting sight as well.

I highly recommend this hike to anyone who enjoys different terrain as well as the challenge of 3 pikes, 2 counties, all in 1 hike.
