Scenic View Route to the top

We had decided to hike from Pantoll Ranger Station.  We took a longer scenic route and rewarded with spectacular views of the Bay Area.  Goal was to avoid fire roads on the ascent.

Here’s the route to the North Peak.

• Park at Pantoll Ranger Station.
• Across the street, Take Matt Davis Trail.
• At a junction, Continue on Hoo-Koo-Ekoo Trail
• At next juction, left onto Vic Haun Trail
• Next junction, take a left onto Temelpa.
• At the next juction, you at the trail that loops around the peak. We wen left for a view point, then headed to the picnic area.
• At the picnic area, there is a final trail to the peak.  Trail is a bit challenging.

Our descent route :

• Upper Fern Creek Trail
• Old Toad Grade Fire Road
• At West Point Inn, turned onto Rock Spring Trail
• At Mountain Theater, East Grade Trail
• At junction, Matt Davies Trail back to Pantoll Ranger Station

It was a long day but a wonderful hike.
