North Wilson is one of my favorite hikes in Sedona! The views are just amazing, and I love adventuring across the plateau to see both spectacular views of Sedona and Flagstaff. I have completed this hike from both trailheads, Midgley Bridge and Encinoso Picnic Area. You need to get started early, because parking is very limited at both locations. Encinoso Picnic Area is much easier to park at and exit after your hike. You get zero warm up starting the trail from North Wilson trailhead…straight up we go! I love the challenge of the climb, the views, and the partial shade. It is sketchy coming down in parts, but not too bad, just slow. This one is a must do in Sedona and more enjoyable without the mid day heat. We were happy to be coming off the mountain by 10am, as many people were just beginning in the heat! 10.5 miles and 2,7,24 ft of gain!
