Six Weeks, Six Peaks, Pt. 4 – Volcan Mountain

Well my plan was to stop in julian to pick up a slice of world famous apple pie, hike to the peak here, and watch the sunset amidst the beautiful fall colors while enjoying my slice of world famous apple pie, but the line at the pie place was half a mile long so I came straight for the trailhead. Fall colors were just barely showing up in a few places but weren’t spectacular. Give it a few more weeks. And then it was so cloudy/foggy at the peak that there were no views and no sunset to speak of. 43⁰ and very windy. Not sure what the wind chill was. It’s a nice hike, I just didn’t luck out with the conditions. By the time I got back to my car it had just started to drizzle. I’d like to come back maybe when the weather is nicer. And I’ll allow myself a good hour to pick up the pie before hand.
