Snow in the Summertime
Hi, everyone. Well, I got my first peak completed today with Lassen. It’s merely the middle of July and there was still snow in the parking lot and different sections of the trail. The snow was a minor obstacle because it did remove visibility in the early part of the trail. The loose gravel was a tad nerve-wracking. There was a little bit of scrambling that happened close to mile 2. Nonetheless, the views were fantastic. I enjoyed reading the informative signs about the animals and history of the volcano and early settlers. There were butterflies near the top hovering around. I did see a squirrel and a reddish brown colored bird. I put the mileage down as 5 because it’s measured at 4.9. I rounded up. Despite the high temperatures, Lassen Peak keeps them under control at higher elevation and cold snow. It was a journey but not too difficult. Thank you.
