St. Crispin’s Day at Kendrick Peak
Also on this hike
October 25, St. Crispin’s Day. Due to the closure of the summit at Bill Williams and the need for a higher altitude hike, I decided to hike Kendrick Peak to finish the challenge. There were a few cars parked at the trailhead when I arrived. On the way up I met several hikers, some of whom were not planning to go further up. The weather was nice. The only thing that was out of the ordinary were two hikers who I came across who were arguing with each other as I was headed up. I did not involve myself in their quarrel and they continued to argue between themselves as they descended while I continued my way up. I made it to the hut with the summit register, stopped for pictures and to log the register, and continued to the summit. The sun was setting when I got to the summit but there was enough daylight to take pictures. I then put on my headlight and started heading down. I made it some distance downhill before I needed to turn on my headlights. The way down became a night hike. Closer to the bottom I came across a hiker who was headed up and given the size of his pack and the gear he was carrying was doing an overnight backpacking trip. Although I stopped to give him right of way, he gave me the right of way and had me go past him. He asked if anyone else was coming down and I confirmed there was none and he continued his way up. When I reached the trailhead, there were 2 cars parked and their occupants hanging out. After a while I drove out.
