Strawberry Peak: 1/6

My parents and I completed the hike after there had been a few days of rainfall so the trails were covered in snow. It was our first time doing the Strawberry Peak hike. We weren’t the first on the trail (arrived around 9 – 10A). Luckily for us, the previous hikers had paved the way through the snow-covered landscape. The snow started to melt as the sun reached its peak (pun unintended), and the snow started to become slush in some areas on the way back. We haven’t been hiking as much as we probably should have to prepare for this hike (I’ll admit I’ve been a quarantine potato), and the snow added to the challenge. The first 3 miles of the ascent took us about 50 minutes, but the last half mile or so to the peak took us 2 hours. There were also some equipment mishaps along the way (breaking walking sticks, missing equipment, etc.). The descent was faster, but still took us a couple hours. I can’t say what the hike looks like typically, but with the snow it felt like a winter wonderland.
