Strong Women, Sacred Mountain
Also on this hike
8 miles. 3,000+ feet of elevation. One unforgettable hike up Mount Umunhum with some of the most inspiring women I know—pushing each other, laughing, and soaking in the views.
At the summit, we stood beside the old SAGE defense tower, once part of a Cold War radar system—now a quiet monument overlooking sacred land.
Mount Umunhum means “resting place of the hummingbird” in the Ohlone language. As hummingbirds passed us on the summit, I felt the presence of the ancestors—gentle, powerful, and still watching over this mountain.
Feeling strong, grounded, and grateful.
