Sunsetting the Peak
Also on this hike
This hike was the longest hike I’ve experienced. Not a lot of snow in the beginning but slippery. After the 3rd miles, you begin to walk in mostly light snow. We had to put our chains, otherwise we were slipping. Since the snow elevated the trail a bit, it wasn’t too harsh on my knees. I think it’s easier to hike on snow than it is on rocky terrain. Your feet feel heavier because of the chains but it’s less painful for the knees.
After the 5th mile, snow becomes deeper and it’s a lot harder to find the trail. You’re mostly on AllTrails guiding your way up. We went off the trail quite a bit.
In the 6th mile snow is reaching upper quadriceps. It’s annoying cause it’s hard to walk and you have to walk 3 miles like that to the peak. This part was terrible. It made me want to quit the 2miles before the peak.
Boy was it worth it at the end. We saw such an amazing view and we got to see the sunset. It was so so beautiful.
