Sweating on Strawberry
Pulled into an almost empty parking lot at Red Box Gap. It was already warm, but the shade from Mt. Lawlor would help some. I cruised along this all too familiar trail until the real climb began. Pushing up the steep slope and over the false summits, I reached the peak. Sadly, the registers were left open, and graffiti marked the rocks. This is why we can’t have nice things! I found some shade for a snack and electrolytes. Once refreshed, I snapped a few photos (the summit signs were gone as well) and headed down the peak. Back at the car, I chatted with two women who were backpacking the entire Gabrielino Trail. My Govee Thermometer said it was 88°F. Now to drive over and climb Sawmill Mountain!
