I took the Glen Alpine (via Gilmore lake) route up and came down the shorter/steeper way due to a time crunch. Do * not* recommend that.

Encountered fairly few people. Weather was chilly and partly to mostly cloudy. Trail was nice and moist after 3 days of thundershowers. I really struggled on this hike so can’t say it’s my favorite at this point.
