The climb from Baldy Village has almost as much elevation gain as climbing Mt Whitney: over 6000 vertical feet in just a few miles. Which is probably why few people take that route. Great challenge, gorgeous views and still a few patches of snow in between the gnarly trees. Took the obligatory selfie at Baldy, and quickly hiked over to have lunch at Baldy West in peace.
