The Slog – Old Baldy Trail

After some less than stellar sleep and stomach issues, I decided to delay my departure time for Baldy via Old Baldy Trail. Big mistake! This is a hard, steep trail that is almost entirely exposed to the sun after the first ~2 miles. I think it felt harder due to my body’s struggles the day before, but it is still quite the endeavor. I ticked West Baldy as well on the way.

I decided I didn’t really feel like going back down that trail, so I jogged/hiked down the Ski Hut trail, and figured I would walk/jog on the road while trying to hitch a ride back to my car parked near the visitor center. I ended up getting picked up by a guy named Tyler who is a middle school science teacher – funny given that I am a high school science teacher named Taylor!
