We had a beautiful day as a weather system had just rolled thru so we had cloud cover most of the day. This hike can really take it out of you as it has steep grades to it that you encounter both going up to the peak and heading back to the parking lot. Would recommend doing it on a cool day (or leave early in the AM) as when the sun comes out it can get warm fast. Views form the peak are outstanding, we had clear view of downtown San Diego
We did also go check out the mines on the way down, not much to them as they only bored in a few feet into the mountain so not much to see
