Up and Up at El Cajon

They say it’s uphill both ways…and they aren’t kidding! El Cajon was a butt-kicker through and through. We each went through 4-5L of water and did our best to eat on the hour. Be prepared with sunscreens and LOADS of calories!

Overall, the hike took us about 7 hours. There is very little available shade, so make use of it for water/snack breaks when you can. Though there are several hills to climb on the way out, they’re not as grueling as on the way in. However, the views are certainly rewarding and the sense of accomplishment when you reach the peak is monumental.
