Completed the first of the Six Pack of Peaks today at Volcan Mountain. I have hiked this trail one other time, in January 2018, when it was super cold and windy. Today, the weather was perfect. Not too hot, and with a cool breeze the last 1.2 miles to the summit. My favorite parts are the shady tree-lined areas. Saw a few squirrels. Bugs are indeed an annoyance the first part of the hike, so I will remember to bring my head net the next time. Actual hike was quicker than I was expecting. Fun hike, but ready for the next challenge!
