Volcan Mountain: #2 of my Six Peak Challenge
Also on this hike
It was a beautiful day with moderate temperatures. We started around 7.45 am. Five Oaks trail is a well maintained, narrow trail in the wilderness. It was a pleasant walk surrounded by greenery and a gradual inclination. When we got close to summit, there was sun exposure and wider paths to walk on. We saw the warning sign board for Mountain Lion in the beginning of the trail, but luckily did not encounter any. It was not an intense hike but was a good workout. There are some view points on the trail path. There is no summit board at the top. Instead, there is an old Airway Light Beacon System tower which is now obsolete and it was interesting to read and know that it was functional in 1920s. We had a small break at the top on the picnic table, took pictures and headed back on the same five oaks trail. Return was pretty fast.
