Walking on lava in the high desert….

We arrived in Sunriver after 11pm last night for our week of hiking, so we were a little tired this morning and had a late start. We definitely regretted that as it was HOT and sunny and most of the hike has no shelter. But it was a lovely hike, VERY different than our usual hikes in the PNW!!!  I loved the idea of hiking on old lava, though the sound of pumice stones rubbing gets irritating ?. Some areas of roots, lots of jagged rocks, loose sand, but nothing too bad. BEAUTIFUL views from the top, WOW!!!!
