Reps or Repetitions
This will tell you how many times to complete a given exercise. You may see this as x15 in a workout. That means you will complete that exercise 15 times.
Sets
Informs you as to the number of rounds you’ll perform of an exercise. Reps complete a set. For example, 3×15 means you’ll complete 3 sets of 15 reps.
Circuit
This tells you how many times to complete the series of exercises. For example, you’d complete all assigned sets and reps for every exercise given. Rest 60-90 seconds and repeat that whole sequence.
Rest Based Training
If you have 15 reps to complete, but you need to stop and rest at rep 9, stop and rest. Take a few breaths, shake it out, and start again back at rep number 10.
