Yes, Rocky Mountain is an actual mountain. Located in Manitou Springs, Colorado, this 9,250′ peak is often overshadowed by the trail that climbs it: the famous Manitou Incline. This route forms a loop that ascends the incline, but then continues climbing to the little-traveled summit of Rocky Mountain before descending via the gentler grade of the Barr Trail.
We will meet-up at the Manitou Incline Basecamp (they sell coffee!) at 7am. We will regroup near the top of the incline, and continue with an exploratory hike to Rocky Mountain. Here are the route details and here is my personal GaiaGPS track from my last hike on this route.
Parking here is a nightmare. Park at the public lot at 10 Old Mans Trail, Manitou Springs, CO 80829 and take the free shuttle (Route 33) that comes every 20 minutes.
Afterwards, join us for the optional post-hike lunch at Manitou Brewing Company.
