Mt Piñon / Sawmill
Hi – was planning to hike Mt Piñon / Sawmill tomorrow Apr 29, but am concerned about trail conditions – not just the snow at 8,000 but the spring melt is pretty severe. We’re pretty decent hikers, but usually (always) under good conditions with very clear trails to follow. Has any one hiked in within the last week? Or is anyone going we could tag along with? Would appreciate feedback!

Hi Rebecca! Be sure to check out the hike logs for Sawmill for the latest conditions. As I right this, the most recent log was from April 23rd, and there was still snow the entire trail. https://socialhiker.net/six-pack-peaks-challenge/southern-california/hike-logs/sawmill-mountain/

Thanks Jeff, we decided to do Strawberry Peak tomorrow instead. I’m afraid we’ll need to let the higher elevations dry out a bit longer!
