UPDATE on the Social Hikers app for iOS and Android
TLDR: Use the website on your computer or phone to log hikes (for now).
We are working on two issues with the Social Hikers app:
- The Android app in the Google Play Store was decommissioned and I’m had to restart from scratch. We have the new app setup and are testing. If anyone runs Android and would like to help test, let me know. As soon as we get that confirmed, it will be submitted for approval by Google and back in the store soon after.
- The iOS app is due for an update. I am testing the latest build and encountered a few showstopper issues. Working on this, and hope to have it resolved RSN (real soon now).
The main thing that I like about the app is that you can get notifications when someone comments or messages you. Note that the app, while useful, is not necessary. Our website is mobile-friendly, and you can do everything via the website — logging hikes, commenting, discussion forums, etc. — on a smartphone, tablet or computer.
Finally, once we get the app working properly on both iOS and Android, we will update the hike logging functions for the 2025 challenges. For now, please continue to use the website.

I was not able to install – the error message was that I can only install this app from Android devices, but I have a Samsung Android device – I was also not able to reply to your message.

Okay, so we have submitted update versions to both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Now we wait for approval, which can take up to seven days.

Apple iOS version has been approved and is updated in the App Store.
Still waiting on Google.
