Your big hiking goals for 2025
Posted by Jeff on December 29, 2024 at 4:55 pmWhat hiking adventures do you have planned for 2025?
I’ve got some exciting things planned, but want to hear what you’ve got in store for the year ahead.

I am hoping to use the Bay Area and Lake Tahoe challenges to help me prepare for Mt. Whitney. I don’t know if I’ll land a permit this year, but keeping a positive attitude.
My 81-year old mother summitted Whitney when she was in college. She talked a lot about her adventure when my sister and I were growing up. Finally, at age 43 and 46, my sister and I are hoping to make our mom proud and follow in her footsteps!

Using the SoCal Six Pack to prepare my knees to finish my last section, (950 miles) of the Pacific Crest Trail in late summer. I want my legs to be in good enough shape to keep up with the thru-hikers when I join them in Ashland, Oregon to the Canadian border in less than 50 days!

LOVE THIS! For many years I had a PCT thru-hike on my life-list, but it dropped off in 2021. It is a big commitment to take off for five months. Doing it in sections feels much more doable, and something I need to revisit. Keep us posted! I’m in Bend, so let me know if we can help with any resupply or town rides.

South to North rim of the Grand Canyon in 12 hrs or less next Sep. I did it 13 hrs last Sep and it was way more difficult than expected. I will start conditioning in June rather than start of Aug.

Doing the West Highland Way in July! Looking to spend more time outdoors this winter and spring putting in the miles to train for that

I had to look up the West Highland Way. Sounds spectacular! My wife and I hiked the Coast to Coast Walk across England in 2023 and loved the experience.
Are you going with a group?

Doing the 2025 SF Bay Area challenge (again!) as part of training for the Antelope Canyon 50k, and generally rebuild my trail skills now that I have mostly recovered from ankle injury. Love this challenge!
