Absolutely spectacular hike. 360 degree views! It was a pretty long drive to the trailhead from my house (1 hour 55 minutes). The trailhead was easy to find and it was a nice drive other than the brief time on the unpaved road. My car did fine, but a jeep, truck or SUV would have been nice 🙂 Parking is a bit sketchy. Very limited and we had to park quite a ways up the road on a “turn out”. I advise getting there early. The trail starts off flat with some minor inclines. The views are beautiful even at this elevation. Once I reached the main saddle I got my first glimpse of Corte Madera Mountain and it was absolutely beautiful! The 360 degree views were spectacular. From this point the “real” hike began. The climb was intense in spots. Knees lifting almost to my chest to climb up on some boulders. The trail got very narrow in spots. The views got even more beautiful as I went along. I absolutely loved this hike! Definitely one of my favorites in San Diego County. After all of the ups and downs and narrow trail I reached the peak. OMG! Once again the 360 degree views were breathtaking. It was a perfect day. Beautiful weather. Perfect for this hike. I wouldn't want to do it in the summer because there is very little coverage from the sun. All in all it was a fantastic hike!!
