About 12 miles over 2 days – Hiked up liberty springs trail to our camp site – setup camp and headed off to our first summit, Mount Liberty – a beautify sunny 360 view. Had a great quite night in the fairly crowded camp site but wonderful caretaker and lots of other friendly hikers. We broke camp before sunrise to try to catch the sun rise while in the saddle between mount liberty and little haystack. (successfully caught the sun-see photos). – unfortunately the rest of our summits would be all in thick fog cloud cover -We made our way along the ridge from little haystack to summit mount Lincoln and from there on to Mount Lafayette again in clouds. As we descended Lafayette we finally broke out of the clouds and got some amazing views of the Franconia area. Made a stop at Green leaf hut for a break before the long 3 mile trek down to the parking area.
