Hubby and I took a much needed nature break from the frenetic packing and moving house. We decided to take a quick jaunt up the tallest peak in the OC, Santiago Peak (5,689’) aka Saddleback Mountain. We 4WD adventure up Maple Spring Road, parked by the Main Divide Rd Gate, then hiked on fire road, all the way to the peak. Mother Nature never disappoints—lots of wildflowers blooming and glorious to be above the clouds
. After hike, had quick lunch at the local Silverado Cafe. Alas, back to packing when we returned home. It was a great Sunday! ????
Total 9.5 miles with 1,500’ total elevation gained, burned 1029 kcal.
