This is an interesting peak because you walk 2.5 miles only gaining ~500 feet of altitude, followed by 1.1 miles of 1200 feet (really ~1400 feet because you go up and down). In a couple of places (each very brief), it is as steep as the last bit of Sitton, requiring you to face the mountain to scramble down. But not true rock climbing or anything like that. I took the Red Box Canyon route – I believe the Colby Canyon route has the Class 3 section.
Conditions were great. It took 1:30 to get up and 1:25 to get down (since the initial descent is steep, while the rest is lightly sloped, so going down is not really any faster).
Note – you will see “road closed” signs as you approach, and the road is closed, but right *after* the parking lot, so you are good.
