A challenging hike which I decided to turn into a backpacking trip.
The parking lot was jammed by the time I arrived (7:15) and had to park on the street. The trail up to Ice House Canyon Saddle was a bit busy, but not overly. Fellow hikers and trail runners were polite and friendly.
Weather conditions were quite good, a bit cool at times, but clear and sunny at other times, yet not hot.
The views from Minor Saddle and up to the peak are awesome. Off in the distance you can see the antennas from atop Mt. Wilson, along with the sea of clouds. It really is quite awesome to see the phenomena of the clouds just hitting the mountain range and being trapped like suds in a bathtub.
After hitting the summit I made my way back down to Kelly Campground and spent the night there. Note that the water sources near the campground are dry, so bring enough water with you or fill up on your way up to the Ice House saddle.
Great place.

I love overnight trips up these peaks! Water can be an issue, as you noted, but when you plan accordingly, it’s great fun.
