It was so cold when we arrived in the morning. The temp was about 24 degrees with 14 degree wind chill.

We walked about 10 minutes before contemplating turning back. We decided to try for Pinos Peak because it was 2 miles in. The trail was fine but we were not dressed for the low temps. The wind was unexpected. It was so strong that it kept pushing us sideways and off balance.

There were little ice chunks falling from the trees onto our heads. The view was pretty along the way with the ice on branches and berries and along the ground. After Pinos, it was so cold and windy two turned back for the car and I continued along with one friend to Sawmill.

It was a bunch of up and downs and more wind until we reached Sawmill. It was still windy that the signs kept being knocked down and we quickly took pics and headed back.

It definitely would have been more pleasant and enjoyable without the wind!
