It was an absolutely gorgeous day, not-too-hot not-too-cold, really perfect day for a hike! The
fay started out pretty frustrating, arrived at Chantry Flats at 6:15 only 15 minutes after the gate opened and every spot was gone. I wasn't comfortable parking on the side of the road though many people were doing that. Wasn't sure what to do so went off the mountain to regroup, looking at the trail map we investigated entry from Sierra Madre and decided to give the Mount Wilson Trail a try. I was pretty nervous since we weren't prepared for this Trail and it said that was a lot more strenuous, and it was!
It was probably the hardest day of hiking I've ever experienced, after a few months off my training wasn't where it needed to be and mentally I wasn't ready either. I didn't think I could do it and sent my group ahead, took every ounce of perseverance I had and somehow I miraculously made it to the top! It's just a gorgeous trai, a very difficult yet enjoyable day, made even better by all the wonderful people we met including a gentleman who had hiked the trail about 50 times who joined us, we appreciated his experience especially when we ended up coming down in the dark because of our 90-minute delay in the morning and our slow pace! Looking forward to our next peak!!
