We started about 7:30am and it was warm but wasn’t too warm. There was plenty of shade during our ascent though the flies were annoying. They weren’t constant and when the wind would pick up (and the breeze felt so good and cool) it would blow them away for a little while. It was an enjoyable climb. We used the ladder and climbed the rocks to the top and used the ropes to get down. The anticipation of doing it was harder than it actually was. As each person went down we learned a little more ????. Someone in our party had an ankle injury on the way down so we had to take it slow and it got really warm. But with the breeze and stops in the shade it was nice!
We did not see anyone on our way up and we had the summit to ourselves but did see about three groups coming up on our way down.
I paid the parking fee on line the night before and when I stopped on the way out the kid at the guard gate was so excited because he said he didn’t know they were doing that. He was very chatty and a nice kid. Definitely a convenient way to do it especially if you go before they open the guard shack.
An overall very lovely day with some very lovely people!!!

Thanks!! She was an incredible trooper and played through the pain finishing on her own. We had a an ace bandage and some Advil which helped. And one person made her a great walking stick (good reminder for us all to always bring our poles even if we think we won’t use them!)
Luckily we had an ace bandage and was able to wrap it and had some Advil to help with the pain and swelling. One person made her an pretty great walking stick (lesson for all of us to always bring our poles even if we think we won’t use them!). She was an incredible trooper!!! She never complained and played through the pain, finishing all on her own.
