Got an early morning start around 6am from Manker Flats headed up to Baldy Notch. Crossed paths with a couple of fellow hikers up at Baldy Lodge headed up the Devil’s Backbone. The weather was great cool but not cold and I didn’t see anyone else until the summit. At 10 A.M. there were only 5 of us up there and the views were epic. Naturally more people started appearing from the Ski Hut trail.
The hike down was considerably more crowded with summit bound hikers via the Ski Hut trail but it was a gorgeous day and the perfect way to kick off 2018 ?.

It’s weird to see Mount Baldy so warm and still on January 1st. I agree though — a great way to kick-off 2018!
