After the first flat half mile, the next mile is steep, and then it plateaus out before getting steep again. Hiking poles are helpful if you like to use them. There is some light scrambling needed at a couple spots. Trail is well marked with white spray-painted arrows on rocks. If you walk for more than 50 feet without seeing the white arrows, stop and make sure you haven't gone off trail.
