Beating sundown on San Jacinto!

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Trail in good condition

ROAD:

Road suitable for all vehicles

Bugs:

No Bugs

Snow:

Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

This one we were forced to a late start due to the tram getting us to the trailhead FAR later than we typically start. On the descend we RACED the sun going down & was going to turn into a true pitch black surroundings.

Prepared with headlamps & anticipating an 8-hr climb we finished in roughly 6 hrs.

Beating the dark became important to my usually free-spirited self. We reached the gondola heading down on the massively steep vertical ride. The moon was out, the sky was darkening & the guy operating the gondola played “Anything you want, you got it…”. It felt like an inspiring movie that puts you into tears at the end. Favorite part? The peak itself, scrambling, dusted snow on the mountain & frozen creeks.

6 of 6!! Can’t wait to do the other 6 in 2024 ❤️
