Went up early Saturday and didn't realize that the Mt Wilson trail race was happening that day. I also didn't realize that the race didn't go all the way to the top. I was early enough that I never saw any racers (and I was about 1hr before the race was to start, so no one tried to stop me from using the trail). This is not my first time up this trail, and it is a nice long one – or at least it feels long. Gains a lot of elevation but the summit isn't at that high of an elevation compared to the other big-name peaks in the area.
It was beautiful up above the inversion layer, and it's always nice to wander around the observatory at the end of the climb.
Lot of poison oak along the shaded parts of the trail – I saw a couple folks with off-leash dogs that have the potential to be bringing those oils back into the house. If you're bringing your dog, be careful with the poison oak!
