So far of the peaks l have done, this is the best. It is further than Volcan and Corte Madera but it did not feel it. The trail head starts out of Paso Picacho campground. It’s $10 to park. The trail is well maintained and just gets more and more beautiful the further you go. Get a trail map at the ranger station as you come in. There are a few different ways to hike this peak. The fire road the whole way going up would be brutal so take the Azalea Loop trail via Azalea Springs. It is incredibly beautiful at the top. The peak sign is really in a great view place but hard to find. It is near the bottom of one of the towers up to so just keep looking. We took the fire road back down. Yep its steep but doable if your toes can handle it. Taking the same trail back is scenic but we got tired and wanted the shorter route back so we took the fire road. It was awesome.
