This was my second time summitting Mt. Wilson but my first from Chantry Flats, on the San Gabrielino and Stuveyesant trails. I was grateful for the shade and loved the small waterfalls we passed on the ascent. The rock field climb was tricky and I was really happy I had my hiking poles. Once you get to the top, you are behind the observatory, and it's rather confusing figuring out how to get to the restrooms and the parking area with the best views. There was a water spigot with drinkable water near the smaller telescope, and it was great to be able to refill. I loved the trails, and the views from the top are great, but I dislike summitting a mountain to find a paved parking area full of cars. We only rested briefly to eat and take photos, then heading back to the shaded lovely trails.
