The Three-Trail Sisters did it again, in that we bagged our second Peak! I've hiked Black Butte countless times, but this one had some firsts: (1) Began at the lower trail head, which made it a 10 mile hike, rather than starting at the Upper TH, which would have been 4 miles RT. (2) Did NOT have a view, only clouds moving overhead with the sun trying to peak through. But, this was a ‘challenge' right? And it was just that! It was a long five miles never-ending uphill to the summit. It was a bear near the top, as we snowshoed almost straight up, and it was a bit eery up there with no view, no people, the tower completely frozen over and only clouds to see! We felt a great accomplishment of bagging this peak. Will do it again, when the spring flowers are out!

Great photos, Laloni! What time did you start and finish your hike? Black Butte is next on my list!
We got a late start because we tried to start at the upper trail. But, the road was too bad, so we had to turn around and go to the lower trail. So, we began around 10:00 am and returned to the car by 5:30 JUST before dark. It was 10 miles RT from the lower trailhead. We have a friend climbing it today…..hopefully, we’ll get a report from her and I could share that with you……
Awesome! I’ll be interested to hear if it got much fresh snow yesterday. Looking at hiking on Thursday.
