Hike Log

Black Butte summit by Grundenschmertz Evil Inc. – Six Pack #1

Trailhead:

Black Butte Trailhead – Deschutes Wilderness Area

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Trail in good condition

ROAD:

Road rough but passable

Bugs:

Bugs were not too bad

Snow:

Snowfields to cross – could be difficult

Snow on ice in spots on the trail on the way up. Last 1/4 mile or so, completely covered in snow. Difficult, but passes with a 5 year old. Also other families with kids under 10. It’s certainly doable.

Several dogs. Which is only source of complaints. Dog owners leave no trace means you haul your dogs crap down. Not leave it for someone else.
I am a dog owner. On top of our own animal, we brought out 8 bags! Come on people!

Other than poor dog handling, great day. Temps were good. Blossoms are starting. Buds are popping. Great day to be on Oregon!!!
