We celebrated Independence Day bagging our 3rd Peak! There was a fair amount of snow crossings at about a mile from the summit, but we were not deterred, there was no turning back for us! Micro spikes and poles recommended, some of us only had yak tracks and at times got pretty slippery. Glissading down some of the snow fields was a lot fun (much better than falling down)! Good times, nice weather, great hiking with my BadAssTrailSisters!

Great hike, great TrailSisters, and the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day!
That’s awesome! I’m leading a group hike up Black Crater on Saturday morning. Did you all have microspikes or similar traction? I’m assuming it would be VERY handy.
Yes, micro spikes for sure and poles! Some of our group had yak tracks, that was a bit more challenging on the snow for them. Good luck, it’s an amazing view from the summit!!
