Great day for hiking Black Butte! Started at the lower trailhead hiking with Ethan and David. Very little snow until we reached the upper trailhead, and even then we didn’t don our microspikes until the last mile (maybe less). One you round the butte, the trail disappears and most tracks head straight up and past the lookout tower.

Popped open a Deschutes Brewing Black Butte non-alcoholic porter to celebrate the summit (it’s legit!).

Be sure to visit the cupola, and then head around the far side to check out the newish deck. Amazing views on this bluebird day!

Logged a bit over 10 miles thanks to a missed turn, but made up for it with lunch at Three Creeks Brewing afterwards.

Pro tip: Three Creeks Brewing has $7 growler fills on Thursdays!
