Started at 6:30am to at least avoid the sun heading up. Took 3.5 hours to get to the summit. Then another 3.5 getting down. Pretty straight forward hike until you hit the dreaded boulders field switch backs. They really slow you down and mess with your momentum. Since I was hiking solo I was sure to take my time, cause all I needed was a twisted ankle. But made it thru alright both ways. At the summit the gift shop was closed. I was hoping to fill-up my water before heading back down. But not even a tap or water found around the building. No worries, I just rationed it a little and took my time using any shade I could find to rest in the lower trail. Windy at the summit and hot returning to the trailhead 90 degrees. Bring at least 4L of water if hiking as an out and back. The tram is a good option and I may do this next time.
