Friyay! Got our weekend started on Strawberry Peak. It started out easy enough. The first 2.5 miles are gradual on a nicely built single track trail. Then at Lawlor Saddle, a slightly technical 1,000’ climb to the final 1.25-mile on a steep and undulating ridge while occasionally using our hands to get over boulders, passing total of 3 False Peaks to the summit. The second leg of the hike is a butt-kicker, but the summit-bagging panoramas are worth the effort.
Bonus, we didn’t see any other hikers on the trails. Started hike at sunrise, summited at 925am, back at Trailhead at 1130am, home at 1pm way before the Friday rush hour traffic.
