This was a tough choice for our first hike this year, we started late! It was a nice loop, beautiful views, a bit overcast so the views were limited.

Hi Marcy,
if I do not want to hike the full loop, would you recommend hiking the Piper trail or Hammond/ Liberty trail up and down? I am a bit intimidated by people writing that Hammond/ Liberty trail is very scary at the end? And it also looks like the Piper trail has an amazing summit over a few other mountains (a bit like the Franconian Ridge?). Could you weigh in on some of the pros and cons? Thank you! Britta
