A strong group of 18 hikers and one dog, Simba, supported me in my quest to take Rose Peak and summit my 5th peak of the Bay Area Peak Challange. We hiked over 17.6 miles, gained 4390 in elevation, and had a glorious day at the lightly snow caped peak.

We started out at 820am and walked along Alameda Creek which was rushing with water. The weather was crisp, clear, and there was a light breeze. Spirits were high and many pictures were being taken of nature's beauty.

At the 2-mile mark we made a left-up Backpack Road to the Ohlone Wilderness Trail. We then connected with the Buckhorn Trail that led us to the top of Rose Peak.

All along the way up the flowers were yearning for the warmth of the sun. Hikers were threatening to leave me a one-star review on my Yelp page but I promised them on the way back the flowers would all be open, and the hills would be carpeted with beauty.

The hikers were spread out along the trail, but the main group hit the lightly snow caped peak at about 1150am. Many pictures were taken, and the group enjoyed a good lunch.

We headed back at 12:30 and took the Portugues Trail and connected with the Brogan Rout witch in reality is more of a broken cow trail. It was an adventure to say the least. After about a mile we connected back to the Ohlone trail.

As I promised all the flowers were out and in full bloom. The critics that were threatening to leave me a 1-star review were now singing my praises. Pictures were being taken of the beauty and the group was in high spirits.

Again, the hikers thinned out over the trail. The reality that this was going to be just over 17 miles was setting in and we were all tired.

We got back to the cars at about 330pm. We were beat, tired, but fulfilled with our accomplishment.

It was a fantastic day to be out at Rose Peak in Sunol with an incredible group.  I have posted all the pictures and videos of the hike to this page. Also, there is a link to the All-Trails route we took. If you would like to ask more questions about my hikes, please feel free to message me and I will share all my info.
