I started this trail pretty late in the day (around 1pm), which I regret as the sun was merciless that day! Getting there and parking were a breeze. The beginning of the trail is a bit overgrown, but manageable. I would recommend hiking this trail in the morning, and maybe even save it for the fall and winter months when the temp and bugs are a bit more manageable. The trail is known for rattlesnakes, but luckily I didn't see or hear any. I saw a lot of birds and lizards and butterflies. After about a mile in, the scenery opens up and it's very beautiful. The ascent is appropriately challenging and there are plenty of shady spots to rest on the way up. The boulders and manzanita trees were my favorite parts of this trail.
