Tried to do this hike last week . . . didnt pay attention to the trips reports saying you must walk past the private gate at the trailhead. Did an extra 5 miles walking up the road after parking the car.  Positive for doing this: found a restroom and shaded bench…also met and talked to local ORV folks and advised us to go to the side of the gate to start the trail. Not wanting to go on private property, I suspect the people in the houses close to the trailhead prefer to make the gate appear as it is private property…The gate is closed AND locked with a chain. On the left side is a built up hill to go by the gate. Watch your step… The other side of the gate is fenced in tight also. Once on the trail, follow the Alltrails as the turn offs are not marked…sometimes there is a small cairn or a small spray painted CM. The hike is slower than you expect because of the exposure and some bouldering. Take your time to enjoy the day and the hike…There is no point in rushing. There are shaded …forest type portions which are beautiful…Bring more water than you think. Exposure ready dehydrates you. I went thru 3.5 liters and it was 55 at the start (8am) and 84 degrees by noon.
